Young Kim at a hearing

Washington, DC – Today, East Asia and the Pacific Subcommittee Chairwoman Young Kim (CA-40) and House Foreign Affairs Committee Ranking Member Gregory Meeks (NY-05) introduced the Strengthening the Quad Act (H.R.1263), reaffirming U.S. commitment to the Quadrilateral Dialogue (Quad) with Japan, Australia, and India.

The bill, which passed the House with bipartisan support last Congress, calls on the State Department to develop a long-term Quad strategy and establishes a Quad Inter-Parliamentary Working Group to deepen legislative engagement between the four democracies.

“The Quad has proven essential to advancing U.S. interests and ensuring a free and open Indo-Pacific. Our four critical democracies must demonstrate that we can tackle shared challenges together and deliver tangible benefits for the region. This bill ensures the Quad remains a lasting pillar of U.S. foreign policy and demonstrates strong bipartisan commitment to our allies and partners in the region,” said Kim and Meeks.

Bill Huizenga (MI-04), Chairman of the South and Central Asia Subcommittee, and Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37), Ranking Member of the South and Central Asia Subcommittee.
