Rep. Kim visits Eureka Pizza in Yorba Linda to discuss helping our small businesses during COVID-19.

Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Rep. Young Kim (CA-39), Vice Ranking Member of the Asia Subcommittee, voted in favor of a bipartisan resolution (H.Res.130) condemning the actions of the government of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for their continued violations of the civil, human and political rights of the people of Hong Kong.

Rep. Kim joined Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Rep. Gregory Meeks (NY-05), Ranking Member Michael McCaul (TX-10), Asia Subcommittee Ranking Member Steve Chabot (OH-01) and 40 other Members of Congress cosponsoring this bipartisan resolution.

“The United States must stand with our allies in support of the people of Hong Kong as they fight for democracy and freedom. Under pressure from the CCP, the government of Hong Kong has engaged in mass arrests, the removal of pro-democracy council members, internet censorship, and mass surveillance, violating Hong Kong’s autonomous status, said Rep. Young Kim. “This bipartisan resolution sends a strong, unified message to the CCP that the U.S. and the international community will hold them accountable for their actions against Hong Kong.”

H.Res.130 builds on Congress’ previous work and encourages the Biden Administration to work with allies and partner countries to hold the CCP accountable and ensure that private sector businesses are aware of the risks to U.S. citizens and long-term business interests.
