Washington, DC – Today, SALT Caucus Republican Co-Chairs Reps. Young Kim (CA-40) and Andrew Garbarino (NY-02) released a statement on reports of the Ways and Means Committee’s proposed $30,000 SALT cap:
“SALT isn’t a new issue. As Republican SALT Caucus Co-Chairs, we have been working in good faith and seeking talks with the Ways and Means Committee and House leadership for more than a year. We have been united and clear on where we stand. Instead of coming to the table, House and Committee leadership waited until the eleventh hour to leak a number that they know does not provide the relief our constituents desperately need. To be clear, nothing has been agreed to — and whatever proposal they are floating has not been presented to or approved by the caucus. Whatever plan the Ways and Means Committee Republicans have come up with, they should be more worried about getting to 218 votes on the floor. This isn’t an offer — it’s a slap in the face to the hardworking taxpayers we represent and stands in the way of progress on our House Republican’s larger agenda. We remain committed to securing a fair deal for our constituents.”
