Dec 11, 2024 | Press Releases

Washington, DC – Yesterday, U.S. Representative Young Kim (CA-40) received the 2024 Newsweek-Stubblefield Institute Civility Award for her commitment to bipartisanship and civil discourse.

Awardees were chosen by a bipartisan panel of judges representing Newsweek, the Stubblefield Institute for Civil Political Communications, and the Bipartisan Policy Center. Civility Awards are given to a Republican and a Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate.

“I came to Congress to bring common sense, break through the partisan gridlock, and get things done. My record shows my commitment to finding common ground,” said Congresswoman Kim. “I’m honored to receive the 2024 Newsweek-Stubblefield Institute Civility Award. I remain willing to work with whoever is willing to work with me in Congress and can assure you that my team and I are just getting started delivering results for Southern California.”

“While relatively new to Congress, Rep. Kim has quickly shown her dedication to working across party lines and finding common ground which has led to Rep. Kim being a highly effective member of Congress. We are pleased to celebrate her work and encourage others to follow her example with a 2024 Newsweek-Stubblefield Institute Civility Award,” said Ashley Horst, Executive Director, Stubblefield Institute.

Since arriving to Congress, Rep. Kim has:

  • Returned more than $25 million back to taxpayers from federal agencies;
  • Gotten more than 40 bills out of the House and 17 bipartisan bills signed into law;
  • Helped more than 5,600 constituents receive assistance with casework;
