Washington, DC – Yesterday, U.S. Representative Young Kim (CA-40) voted in favor of the Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2025 (H.R. 8998), which passed the House with bipartisan support.
The bill funds the U.S. Forest Service, which serves the Cleveland National Forest, and includes resources for local water projects in California’s 40th District:
- $1,000,000 for the Orange County Water District’s PFAS Well Improvement Project, which would treat 62 drinking water wells that provide enough water for nearly 800,000 individuals per year
- $750,000 for the Santa Margarita Water District’s Oso Barrier Water Treatment Plant Project, which would provide high quality recycled water by capturing urban runoff from the cities of Rancho Santa Margarita and Mission Viejo and upstream portions of unincorporated South Orange County
“Access to clean water is pivotal to the public health and safety of our communities across California’s 40th District,” said Rep.
