Anaheim Hills, CA –U.S. Representative Young Kim (CA-40) released a statement following yesterday’s assassination attempt against former President Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania:
“Peaceful political discourse is the cornerstone of our democracy and what has made this great experiment a beacon of hope for the world for 248 years.”
“Americans should never fear violent retribution for using our voices — whether voting at the polls, attending a rally, or speaking up in our communities. Our differences are settled through the political process. Violence is unacceptable. Our country cannot continue along this path. We must unite, deescalate, heal our wounds, and move forward as a country.”
“I am glad former President Trump is doing well, and I am praying for him, his family, and all those affected by yesterday’s events. I hope that in the face of this tragedy, we rise up, lead by example, and remember that more unites us than divides us as Americans.”
