U.S. Representative Young Kim has been selected to serve on the Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee of the House Science, Space and Technology Committee.

“I am thrilled to be able to add my voice to Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee,” said Kim. “The 39th District of California is home to aerospace manufacturing facilities and universities on the front lines of space research and exploration and is nearby the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory which continues to play a crucial role reaching new heights on Mars.”

Science, Space, and Technology Committee Ranking Member Rep. Frank Lucas spoke on adding Kim to the subcommittee, Friday.

“Our subcommittees do a lot of heavy lifting,” Lucas said “They work closely with the agencies we oversee and develop and negotiate smart policies. Each member brings a unique perspective and important experience to their subcommittee’s issue areas, and I’m looking forward to everything we can accomplish together.”

He added that Kim’s knowledge about the aerospace industry and the innovation necessary to keep the U.S. as the leader in space commercialization and exploration would make her a “great addition to our Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee.”

According to Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee Ranking Member Rep. Brian Babin, Kim’s assistance will help advocate America’s policies to remain “the global leader in space.”

“I am proud to welcome Congresswoman Young Kim to the House Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee for the 117th Congress,” Babin said. “Her district contributes critical research and support to our nation’s spacefaring effort.”

Kim has her feet firmly in the 117th Congress and her eyes on the stars.

She added that she is “looking forward to doing my part to promote policies that allow our astronauts, scientists, and engineers to continue to innovate and allow our nation to lead in reaching new frontiers.”
