Surplus Books Program

I am excited to work with the Library of Congress to provide surplus book donations to organizations in CA-39.

Eligible organizations and institutions must be located in CA-39 and fall into one of the following categories:

  • Full-time, tax-supported or nonprofit educational institution: school, school system, college, university, museum, or public library.
  • Agency of local, state, or federal government.
  • Nonprofit institution or organization that has tax-exempt status under the provisions of section 501 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954 (see 41 CFR 101-44.207 (a)(17)) and that operates a library and/or research center open to the public.
Books can be requested based on specific subject matters (history, art, sports, science, cooking, military, etc.), and eligible organizations can request books by contacting our office. Below, you will find a form detailing the information that is needed to facilitate a donation from the Library of Congress. If you have any questions, please contact our DC office at (202) 225-4111

What are these options?

Constituents who are hard of hearing or use a video phone have the option to choose TDD or VP based on the type of device they are using. This allows our office to respond to them accordingly. The default option ‘Voice’ is a standard audible telephone.

You may be prompted to answer a CAPTCHA challenge before completing this form.
