Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Young Kim (CA-40) voted in support of the Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025 (S. Amdt. to H.R. 5009), or the FY2025 NDAA.
“Military recruitment, retention, and readiness are more important than ever as we see growing threats by the Unholy Alliance – the People’s Republic of China, North Korea, Russia, and Iran – that seek to disrupt life as we know it. We must promote peace through strength,” said Rep. Young Kim. “I’m proud to support this bipartisan FY25 NDAA that prioritizes servicemember quality of life and military preparedness, so the brave men and women of our armed forces are mission-focused and ready to protect our freedoms from global threats wherever they find us.”
The FY25 NDAA supports troops and protects our national security by:
- Increasing pay by 14.5% for junior enlisted servicemembers and 4.5% pay raise for all other troops;
- Strengthening border security by supporting the Joint Interagency Task Force South Command and Control Facility to detect illegal migrants and narcotics;
- Deterring aggression by the Chinese Communist Party by supporting the Pacific Deterrence and Initiative and INDOPACOM Commander priorities;
- Authorizing full funding for joint U.S.-Israel missile defense programs including Iron Dome, David’s Sling, and a missile interceptor that the Biden administration ceased production of; and,
- Ensuring oversight by subjecting Department of Defense components to an independent audit and cutting inefficient programs, obsolete weapons systems, and contractor waste – saving taxpayers $31 billion.
