U.S. Rep. Young Kim (R-CA) on Nov. 15 joined several of her Republican colleagues to introduce a bill that would help replenish the federal Disaster Relief Fund.
“Disaster relief funding that has proven to help areas devastated by natural disasters is now depleted, leaving communities recovering from recent wildfires and hurricanes without vital federal assistance,” Rep. Kim said Tuesday. “I’m proud to help introduce this common-sense bill to simply redirect unused COVID resources to the Disaster Relief Fund.”
The congresswoman is one of eight original cosponsors of H.R. 10143, which is sponsored by U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-AL). Her fellow cosponsors include U.S. Reps. Don Bacon (R-NE) and Pete Stauber (R-MN).
If enacted, H.R. 10143 would direct the administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to transfer any unobligated amounts of COVID-19 relief funds to the Disaster Relief Fund.
“I’ll keep fighting to ensure our communities can recover from the Airport Fire and recent wildfires in Southern California,” said Rep. Kim.
