Washington, DC – Today, Indo-Pacific Subcommittee Chairwoman Young Kim (CA-40) and Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (TX-10) released the following statement on Indonesian President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s visit to the United States.
“We welcome Indonesian President Jokowi to Washington, DC today. As the largest democracy in Southeast Asia, Indonesia is a significant U.S. partner with immense economic and defense potential. We urge President Biden to seek concrete deliverables from this meeting, particularly in expanding maritime domain awareness collaboration and working towards concluding a critical minerals trade agreement that will strengthen the supply chain both domestically in the U.S. and internationally of these critical minerals,” the members said.
