Washington, DC – This week, the House Foreign Affairs Committee passed three initiatives by Rep. Young Kim (CA-40), who serves as Chairwoman of the Subcommittee on the Indo-Pacific:
- The Keeping Our Allies Leading in Advancement (KOALA) Act (H.R. 4716), which Rep. Kim introduced with Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (TX-10) and Europe Subcommittee Chairman Tom Kean (NJ-07)to support Australia’s joint advanced military capabilities in implementation of the trilateral security partnership between Australia, United Kingdom, and United States (AUKUS);
- The Securing Global Telecommunications Act (H.R. 4741), which Rep. Kim introduced with Rep. Kathy Manning (NC-06) to enhance U.S. efforts to promote secure telecommunications infrastructure around the world; and,
- A bipartisan resolution (H.Res.578) Rep. Kim introduced with Rep. Sydney Kamlager Dove (CA-37) to demand the immediate release of Eyvin Hernandez, a United States citizen and Los Angeles County public defender who has been wrongfully detained by the Venezuelan regime since March 2022.
