Reps. Young Kim and Lou Correa brewed up some bipartisanship — with the help of Golden Road Brewing in Anaheim.

The Southern California congressional duo recently participated in Anheuser-Busch’s annual “Brew Across America” competition, entering a green tea lemon shandy called Emerald Palmer.

Brewed in Anaheim, the beer “adds a SoCal twist to the traditional Arnold Palmer and gives our colleagues a taste of Orange County,” Kim said.

Judge Emily Brooks, a congressional reporter for The Hill, said: “The brews across the board were bold, but the low alcohol content and unique green tea notes in the Emerald Palmer won my palate. I could drink it by the pool all day.”

Unfortunately, Correa’s and Kim’s Emerald Palmer didn’t win. That honor went to Seventeen Finger Select, a dark American wheat by Sen. Jon Tester, D-Montana, and Sen. Mike Rounds, R-South Dakota.

The Brew Across America competition began in 2017, but Anheuser-Busch started requiring members of Congress to partner with someone across the aisle just last year. The beer giant said it underscores its mission “to bring people together to move the country forward.”

“The Brew Across America competition is a great way to bring members of Congress together from across the country and across the political aisle to promote the spirit of working together and showcase what different regions can offer,” Kim said.

“While I admit I’m competitive, this is all about coming together. Rep. Correa and I don’t agree on everything, but I’m glad that we can work together to serve our constituents and support our Orange County communities,” the Republican congresswoman added. “More unites us than divides us as Americans.”
