Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Young Kim (CA-39) released the following statement on today’s vote to pass an infrastructure bill contingent on the progressive budget reconciliation plan:

“Our infrastructure across U.S. communities is in dire need of repairs, which is why I worked in good faith with the Problem Solvers Caucus to create a bipartisan, commonsense infrastructure framework. Unfortunately, this effort was hijacked by Speaker Pelosi and Senator Bernie Sanders, who made a bipartisan infrastructure framework a bargaining chip for a nearly $3 trillion spending plan,” said Congresswoman Kim. “I cannot in good conscience support trillions more in federal spending that will hike taxes, raise prices on everyday goods even more and put our economic recovery in jeopardy. The only thing bipartisan about this reconciliation process is the opposition to it. I will continue to support responsible, commonsense policies that help make life more affordable for Californians I represent.”
