Washington, DC – Today, Young Kim was sworn in to serve the 39th Congressional District of California in the United States House of Representatives. Kim becomes the representative of the community she served for over 30 years as a California State Assemblywoman, Congressional Director of Community Operations and community leader. Upon taking office Representative Young Kim became one of the first three Korean-American women to serve in Congress.
After leaving the House floor, Congresswoman Kim released the following statement:
“It is the honor of a lifetime to represent the community I have cherished so much in Congress, and I thank the people of the 39th District for putting their trust in me. I raised my family, built my career and achieved the American Dream in the 39th District and I am honored to be able to fight for it every day in Congress. I came to Washington to cut through the gridlock, find bipartisan solutions, and be an independent voice for this community. Now it’s time to get to work,” said U.S. Representative Young Kim.
