Cottle Centanni Post Office

Mar 23, 2023 | Press Releases

Yorba Linda, CA – On March 17, 2023, U.S. Representative Young Kim (CA-40) attended a dedication ceremony to rename the Yorba Linda U.S. post office at 4770 Eureka Ave, Yorba Linda, CA 92885 after fallen heroes U.S. Marine Corps SgtMaj Robert J. Cottle and LCpl Rick J. Centanni, who lost their lives together in combat in Helmand Province, Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom.

In the 117th Congress, Rep. Kim led H.R. 6631 to rename the post office in their honor. The bill became law last year.

“SgtMaj Cottle and LCpl Centanni were Yorba Linda residents, friends and brothers-in-arms who gave everything to protect the American values and freedoms we hold dear,” said Rep. Kim. “While we lost them too soon, their lives were not lived in vain. I hope that through the new Cottle Centanni Post Office Building, we can show our gratitude and ensure their names and stories of friendship, service and sacrifice are remembered by future generations in their hometown. I am grateful to the Centanni and Cottle families for working with me on this, and I am thrilled we can make this important tribute a reality.”

“Again, I would like to thank Congresswoman Young Kim, her staff and all the others involved in this fitting Honor and Tribute of renaming the Yorba Linda Post Office in memory of these two fallen warrior Marines; my Son, LCpl. Rick J. Centanni and SgtMaj. Robert J. Cottle.  It is greatly appreciated by our Family, Friends and this Community, thank you,” said Jon Centanni.

“On behalf of myself and Robert James’s daughter Kaila, we would like to thank Representative Kim for her dedication and efforts to have the Yorba Linda Post Office renamed in honor of SgtMajor Robert James Cottle and Lance Corporal Rick Centanni. Although it has been 13 years since they were KIA in Afghanistan, their sacrifice continues to be felt by their families daily. For Kaila, who was only 3 months old when her dad deployed, this gesture will serve as a timeless reminder that her father’s sacrifice has not been, nor will be forgotten. Thank you,” said Emily Cottle.
