Rep. Young Kim Speaks at Cal State Fullerton

Sep 16, 2021 | Education, Press Releases

Fullerton, CA – Today, U.S. Representatives Young Kim (CA-39) and Lou Correa (CA-46) invited Department of Education Secretary Miguel Cardona to visit California State University, Fullerton (CSUF), a leading Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), to see their work providing leading educational and research programs for students as the nation celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month and HSI Week.

In the bipartisan letter, the members promote the accomplishments of CSUF and their shared desire to bridge the gap in educational opportunities for minority students.

“Educational opportunities are crucial for students of all backgrounds to reach their full potential and achieve their dream. CSUF provides top-tier higher education and research programs for students in California’s 39th District and is a leading Hispanic Serving Institution,” said Kim. “I thank Rep. Correa for joining me in this bipartisan effort to highlight the contributions of students, faculty and staff at CSUF, and I hope Secretary Cardona accepts our invitation as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month to see CSUF’s work firsthand.”

“As a proud Titan, I have personally experienced the efforts of Cal State Fullerton to provide a pathway to success for students. Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI) week highlights the importance of Secretary Cardona visiting CSUF to see firsthand the work and dedication of CSUF to serving Orange County and especially our Latino community who were greatly impacted by COVID-19 and are experiencing a financial burden to get through the pandemic and prioritize their higher education. I invite the Secretary to meet CSUF students and learn more about the university’s work to increase access to education for underserved students,” said Correa.
