Rep. Young Kim Remarks at Committee Hearing

May 21, 2021 | Press Releases

Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Young Kim (CA-39) is rated the most bipartisan freshman member of Congress, according to recent data by Quorum Analytics as reported by Axios. Her independent record was also recently reported by the Orange County Register.

“I came to Congress to get through the partisan gridlock and create commonsense policies that deliver results for California’s 39th District. I’ve always said we must work together to get things done, and my record in Congress shows that,” said Rep. Kim. “I’m proud to be rated the most bipartisan member of my freshman class in Congress, and I’m excited that in less than 5 months, four of my bills have passed the House, all of which were bipartisan, and one has become law. I assure you that I’m just getting started. I’ll continue do to all I can to work with members on both sides of the aisle to get things done.”

Rep. Kim has stood by her commitment to work in a bipartisan way and has quickly established herself as a commonsense legislator who can get things done in Congress. A few of her efforts include:

  • Introducing the bipartisan Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) Extension Act, which was signed into law by President Biden on March 30;

  • Introducing two bipartisan bills to reform the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) 504 loan program, which passed the House on April 15 and April 16;

  • Leading a bipartisan bill to streamline reporting requirements at the State Department to improve information sharing and create a more efficient Department, which passed the House on May 18

  • Being a leading voice to support Taiwan’s observer status in the WHO by introducing a bill with more than 80 bipartisan cosponsors;

  • Joining the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, which has 29 Republicans and 29 Democrats, during her first month in Congress to work with like-minded colleagues on commonsense solutions on major issues facing our nation; and,

  • Cosponsoring more bipartisan bills than any other member of her Freshman class. A full list of bills can be found HERE
